• Pictures of ducks [try here for some pictures]
• stapler (to bind book)
• cardboard (for book cover)
• pictures (from magazines ,etc.)
• Writing paper
• Coloured pencils

1. Pick out 1 picture and write a story or poem about it.
2. Colour the picture

What is happening in the picture?

How did they get there (what happened before)?

What happens next?

Pretend you are one of the birds and narrate a story.

Choose 3-5 pictures; let students choose 3-5 pictures;
decide on a sequence; make up a story to go with the pictures;
write/tell the story; colour the pictures; make story and pictures into a book.

Choose 6-12 words from the word list and write a story using these.
This idea can also be used to prompt the imagination for silly/ bizarre/ or fantastic stories.
